It is with sadness that the family of Betty Folz (Miller) announce her passing on May 15, 2023. The loving wife of the late Gerald (Jerry), Betty will be missed by her children; Phyllis Dawson, and Bob Folz; Grandchildren, Ryan (Marguerite), Daniel, Jessie (Chuck), Kirsten (Dan), RJ (Soph) & Hobey; Great Grandchildren, Teddy, Fritz, Duke, Jeremy, Myla, Khai, Knox, River, and Krew. Betty is survived by many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Betty will be remembered for her strong faith. She was a member of the Catholic Women's League and the Daughter's of Isabella. She sang in the choir of St. Veronica's Parish in Sault Ste. Marie. In her later years, she made sure to watch the daily mass and stay as active in the church as possible.
In her younger days, Betty enjoyed 5 pin bowling. She enjoyed knitting Icelandic sweaters, toques, mitts and scarves. She loved to be outside enjoying God's creation. She especially loved the winter when she would build an ice rink and teach the kids to skate or build snow hills and forts and play with the children. She was happiest when surrounded by little ones and always made sure to keep treats on hand. In the warmer months, she loved gardening and camping at the family cottage.
She kept active by being a part of the Neighbourhood Watch and working as a school guard for many years. She took great pride in maintaining her home and garden, keeping things neat while still providing a welcoming atmosphere to those who entered it. She loved to entertain and spent many hours in the kitchen. She was known as a baker extraordinaire and loved to cook meals for her loved ones. She was creative in the kitchen and always made sure that every holiday was celebrated with good food, family, and themed decorations.
Betty will be missed by all those who knew and loved her and has left behind a beautiful legacy for her family.
The family would like to thank the staff at IOOF Seniors Home for the exceptional care and love that they provided during her years there. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or the IOOF Seniors Home in Barrie.
