In the early morning hours of June 30, David passed peacefully at home at the age of 82 after a brief stay in hospital. David is survived by his devoted wife Alice with whom he has shared the past 41 years, his son Daryl (who now lives in Calgary) and step-son Chris.
Born to parents Harry and Alice Gazey, David along with his younger sister Carolyn (predeceased) grew up in East York spending his summers in Innisfil, ON, where he would eventually call home. David made a career as a firefighter, following in his father's footsteps, for North York rising to the role of captain before his early retirement. David enjoyed his retirement and could often be found out on his motorcycle during the summer months. During the winter months David quickly embraced the life of a snowbird travelling to the Dunedin area of Florida each year, but not before Thanksgiving dinner with his family, competing with his sister Carolyn to see who could fill their plate first.
More recently David gave up his motorcycle for a lawn tractor, cutting lawns in the neighbourhood, sometimes chatting more than cutting, except Sundays, which were reserved for breakfast at McDonalds. David could be found evenings with the TV on in his favorite chair being an avid fan of action movies and following the details of every case of Judge Judy. David will be missed by many for his social phone calls or chats on the porch.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in David's memory to the War Amps http://waramps.ca .
