On June 9, 1971, at 7:38 am, the heavens opened up and an angel descended into our world. Erol Kale was born on that day at Women's College Hospital in Toronto. He became part of a loving family, dad Cavit, mom Gulsen, and 2 sisters and a brother. When Erol was 3 years old, the family moved back to his parent's homeland, Turkey. He spent his childhood growing up in a country steeped in history and tradition, living along the shores of the Mediterranean. His Muslim upbringing was part of that world, although Erol was interested in and respected all religious beliefs.
Erol had an enormous desire to learn and excelled at everything he took on. He obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aeronautical Engineering at the Middle Eastern Technical University. Classes were taught only in English, a language Erol would learn at the same time as he learned about Engineering. After graduation, he dreamed of returning to the country of his birth. So, in 1998, Erol came back to Canada with little more than the clothes on his back. He began working at Global Furniture Group, where he would stay for 25 years, working his way up to the position of Director of Facilities.
Erol was relentless and fearless in his pursuit of life experiences. He loved everything related to airplanes, history, the sciences, but he also loved his family and friends with the same intensity. In 1999 he met the person who would become his life partner, Carol. Their connection was instant. As time passed, it would develop into an incredible partnership in every sense of the word. They were both advocates for animal welfare, and this became a cornerstone of their relationship culminating in the founding of Street Cats Rescue.
While Erol had been battling a rare cancer, his passing was sudden and unexpected. Heaven had shared him long enough and his time here on earth had come to an end. He leaves a legacy of being the best of everything that is good in this world.....loving, loyal, funny, smart, tolerant, humble, compassionate, and generous.
He is survived by his wife Carol, mother Gulsen, brother Erdogan, sister Muazzez, sister and brother-in-law, Nermin and Mehmet, niece Deniz, sister-in-law Christina, niece Amy and husband Jeremy, nephew Reid and wife Michelle, great nephews Aiden, Ethan, Quinton and great niece Kenzlie.
