Gordon William Stephenson

With sorrow, the family of Gordon William Stephenson announce his death at Hospice Simcoe in Barrie on December 15, 2023. Gord is survived by Pauline (Longhurst), his wife of 66 years and his children; Don (Tina), Valerie (Larry Downing) and grandchildren; Laura (J. S. Gibeau), Sara, and William. Most recently, Gord celebrated the arrival of a great grandchild, Riley Gibeau.

Gord was born in Holland Landing in 1927. There he enjoyed his busy childhood home with 5 brothers and sisters and a large extended family. He worked at Kodak for 40 years and was able to retire in his late 50's. He and Pauline wed in 1957 and made their family home in Maple where they lived until the age of 80. Gord enjoyed tending his large vegetable garden and cutting grass for many of his neighbours. He loved to do woodwork and was handy at most things. He took great joy in helping his kids whenever and however possible.

Gord and Pauline moved to Barrie 15 years ago to be closer to family. Remembered for his love of teasing and his generosity, Gord will be missed  by all those who knew him.
