Jacob Jozua Van Ysseldyk

Jacob Jozua Van Ysseldyk was born on November 4, 1939, in Kerkwerve, Holland. He passed away on January 14, 2025, at Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie. Jacob was 85 years old.

Jacob is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years Maria Van Ysseldyk (nee Splinter) and their children Ada (David) Minnema, Marianne (John) Vroom and Anthony Van Ysseldyk. 

Cherished Opa of 8 grandchildren and great Opa to 10 great grandchildren: Christopher and Katelynn Minnema (Alanna, Abby, Jacob); Alisha Vroom (Lily); Daniel Vroom; Jonathan Minnema and Andrea Smail (Riley, Jameson); Zachary Minnema and Shinelle Morrison (Easton, Rhett); Kyle and Allysin Van Ysseldyk (Kemper, Savannah); Jeremy Minnema, Jade and DJ Pitts.

Jacob was the 4th of 7 children born to Antonio and Maria Van Ysseldyk. He had three older sisters Jane Bolle (the late Herman), Margaret Lobbezoo (Nick), the late Ann Visser (Ben), and three younger brothers; Joe Ysseldyk (Dorothy), Dick Ysseldyk (Marlene) and the late Art Ysseldyk (Marilyn).

He is survived by loving-in-laws, nieces, nephews and many long-time friends.

Jacob was a mechanic for most of his life and retired at the age of 50. He loved to make fun of his son in laws and son for chasing little white balls. Once he started playing himself, he became a more avid chaser then they were. His hobbies included computers, creating beautiful stain glass artwork and exquisite intarsia pieces.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Innisfil Funeral Home, 7910 Yonge Street, Innisfil on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 12 to 1 pm, with a funeral service and reception to follow.
