John Stewart Farnsworth

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Stewart Farnsworth (Farns).

Predeceased by his father, James and his mother, Carrie (Carmichael). Devoted father to his sons, Luka and Jack. Loving brother to Leslie. Fondly remembered by his many cousins, nieces and nephews.

John was born in Peterborough, Ontario and grew up in Stittsville until the family moved to Oakville where he attended high school. After graduating from George Brown College in Toronto, John began working for BCB Pro Audio and went on to become a skilled and dedicated guitar/stage technician for over 35 years. Loved and admired by his peers for his kindness, humility, passion, skill and attention to detail, he was the brightest light on and off the stage.

Foremost, John was a proud father, speaking to everyone he met about his boys. His stories and life lessons have made an indelible mark on their young lives.

John leaves a legacy of respectfulness towards others, generosity of time, empathy, compassion and most of all, thoughtfulness. He remembered the little things, all the things, and took great care in everything he did.

Heartfelt thanks for the countless messages of condolences from family and friends far and wide, his work-family Blue Rodeo, Cowboy Junkies, and many others who brought Farns on board to take care of them on the road. A special thank you for the time, love and support offered by Lee Chomiak and Lisa Stevenson. We couldn’t have managed without you.

Visitation to take place on July 16th at Innisfil Funeral Home at 12:00p.m. Memorial and Celebration of Life at 1:00p.m., followed by a reception.

Interment will be held on October 19th at 11am at Sand Point Public Cemetery in McNab/Braeside Township (near Arnprior)
