It is with great sadness and a heavy heart we announce the passing of John Wayne Riddick on Monday, February 7th in his 80th year. He passed away peacefully at Royal Victoria Hospital after a brief illness. Beloved husband of 53 years to Mary Bernadette Riddick (nee Klauke). Loving father to Ian (Heather), Heather Traverse (John) and Neal (Cindy). Proud Poppa to his grandchildren Cameron, Alyssa, Mason, Nolan, Liam and Emma.
John “Wayne” was born on April 26th 1942 in Windsor Ontario to John and Elsie Riddick and he was followed 12 years later by his brother Mark. The family moved and settled in King City in 1958. Wayne met Bernadette through mutual friends at the drive in dinner Harvey’s in Richmond Hill in 1965, which we can only imagine as a scene out of Grease, with Wayne’s slicked back ducktail. They married in 1968 and settled down a few years later in North York where they raised their 3 children. Wayne worked at Maclean Hunter for 41 years where he made countless friends with his easy going nature and sense of humour. Wayne loved to garden and turned his yards into oasis in North York and finally at their home in Newmarket. He had a passion for the Blue Jays and Maple Leafs.
