Mary Edith Maindonald (nee Barnett) passed away peacefully at Royal Victoria Hospital Sunday March 5th, 2023. Mary was born on April 7th,1926 on her parents farm in Gosfield South Township near Kingsville Ontario. She is survived by her son Greg Maindonald and her Grandchildren Tamara and Gary Rawnsley as well as Paul, Stephen and Daniel Maindonald. Her son in law Bob Rawnsley and his wife Carla and her family were especially dear to her.
She was fond of her great grandchildren Saul,Ty, Jessalyn, Isabelle, Karter, Parker, Lilian and Lauren and dearly loved her granddaughters in law Pam and Dana Maindonald and Megan Rawnsley.
Mary is predeceased by her loving husband Edgar Maindonald and her only daughter Gail. She was the last survivor of her siblings, sisters Viola, Doris and Elaine as well as her brother William. Her parents Edna and Wilfred Barnett gave her a loving home and wonderful memories.
Mary was a strong independent woman who travelled to Toronto when she was only 16 working for the war effort. She met her husband Ed and they were married in Toronto on September 8th, 1947. She was a wonderful wife and Mother staying at home and raising her family. She followed her husbands career to multiple locations eventually settling with him at the family cottage on Lake Simcoe.
Mary was an amazing woman with a witty mind and an amazing sense of humor which she had until the end joking about breaking out of the hospital only hours before passing. She will be sorrowfully missed by all her friends and family.
A service will be held on Thursday March 9th at Innisfil Funeral Home in Stroud Ontario. Visitation at 10 am followed by a service at 11 and burial and reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimers Society or the Salvation Army her favorite charities would be appreciated.
