The Sheehan family is deeply saddened to announce the passing of their beloved husband and father, Mike Sheehan, on Friday, July 5, 2024. He leaves behind his childhood sweetheart and wife of over 40 years, Maria-Loreta (née Zappacosta), and his three sons and their partners: Michael (Tyler), Daniel (Shannyn), and David (Alexandra). Mike's memory will also be cherished by his newest and sweetest addition to the family, his grandson, Beau.
Born on March 9, 1958, Mike was the eldest son of Wilfred and Eva Sheehan (both predeceased). He quickly embraced his role as a supporter, provider, and nurturer. Throughout his career as an electrician, Mike was known for sparking joy in the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him. He could always be relied upon for a hearty laugh, sage advice, a DIY solution to a vexing mechanical issue, a friendly wave from behind the wheel of his Jeep, and a song strummed on his guitar around a campfire.
Mike’s love of music has been instilled in each of his sons, even though his preferred soundtracks often accompanied Saturday morning house-cleaning sessions, much to their chagrin. An avid outdoorsman, Mike found serenity and immense joy in nature. He loved hunting, fishing, and camping with his friends, pursuits that brought him great happiness and peace.
In addition to his professional achievements, Mike was a pillar of his community. He was always willing to lend a hand to neighbors and friends, and his acts of kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on those around him. Mike's legacy of warmth, humor, and unyielding support will continue to live on through his family and all who were touched by his presence.
A memorial service will be held for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to The Alzheimer Society of Canada, SickKids Hospital, or Ducks Unlimited in Mike's honor. These organizations held special significance to Mike and reflect his compassionate spirit and love for life.
