Otilia Natalia Da Silva

It is with great sadness that the family of Otilia Natalia Da Silva announce her passing on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at the age of 95 following a brave and challenging battle with dementia. 

Otilia will be lovingly remembered by her children, Otilia (Carlos), Rodrigo; grandchildren, Marlon (Ingrid), Paul, Christine (Robert), Josh, Tristan (Kala); and a large extended family.

Otilia was predeceased by her parents, John (João) and Isabel; siblings, Maria Do Rosario, Aurora, Manuel, Isabel, Ana and husband Antero Da Silva.

Otilia was born in Pico, Acores in 1928 and was the third of six children.

At the age of 23, she met and married Antero 6 short months later in 1952.  Antero was truly the love of her life and together they had 2 children, Otilia and Rodrigo.

In search of more promising life opportunities, Otilia and her family immigrated to Toronto in 1970, where many years of hard work brought their family the pride of owning their own home.

Those close to Otilia knew her as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who had strong commitment to her catholic faith, and loved spending spare time crocheting and in the kitchen creating delicious meals for her family.

Otilia and Antero were married for 57 years.

There are too many special memories to recount, but those who knew her well would say that Otilia had an incredibly big and giving heart, along with a fearless, strong and opinionated spicey personality!

We will all miss her witty comments and funny and infectious laugh forever.

During this difficult time, we as a family find solace in knowing that she has now found eternal peace, and has once again joined her beloved Antero.

Family and friends may visit at the Innisfil Funeral Home, on Saturday October 7, 2023. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00pm, with the Funeral Service beginning at 12:00pm. Guests are invited to join the family for the internment at St Mary's Catholic Cemetery, 208 Sunnidale Rd, Barrie, ON L4M 5R4 immediately following the service and reception to follow at the funeral home.
