Patricia Florence Murray, affectionately known as “Pat”, passed away peacefully and surrounded by love on December 29th, 2024.
She will be greatly missed by her beloved husband of 62 wonderful years, Gordon, her cherished daughters; Marcia (Marco) and Mandi (Rob), her adoring grandchildren; Daniel (Sam), Saxon, Sydney and Halle, as well as her treasured great-grandchildren; Dylan and Devin.
An internationally recognized author, Pat shared her expertise with the world through her literary work on "Wade Porcelain Collectibles," crafting several revered books that illuminated the intricacies and beauty of this cherished art form. Pat's impressive achievements extended beyond her literary pursuits. Pat also held the esteemed position of past chairperson of the British Chelonia Society, a role in which she exhibited an unwavering dedication to the study and conservation of tortoises.
As an expert in her field, Patricia enlightened many through her engaging presentations, including the British Herpetological Society meetings at the London Zoo and the University of Bristol. Her insightful discussions captivated audiences and displayed her commitment to education and wildlife advocacy. Notably, her appearances on the British Broadcasting Corporation (B.B.C.) showcased her vast knowledge and love for these remarkable creatures, further solidifying her legacy in the scientific community.
Throughout her life, Pat cultivated a spirit that resonated with a love for all living creatures. An ardent animal lover, she formed profound connections with her beloved cats and the wild animals she so adored. Her innate ability to communicate with these creatures reflected a compassion that was truly remarkable.
As we reflect upon the life of Patricia Florence Murray, we remember her not merely for her accomplishments, but for the vibrant spirit she embodied—passionate, loving, and wise. Her legacy will continue to inspire those she leaves behind, a beacon of strength and compassion for generations to come.
