MARTEL, Paul Wm. (January 8, 1934 – August 6, 2020) - It is with great sadness that the family of Paul Martel announce his sudden death on the 6th of August at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie, Ontario. Paul will be remembered for his love of family and dedication to his community, wherever he lived. Paul joined Boy Scouts as a youth and began his long volunteer association with the organization. He enjoyed leading the Boy Scouts while serving in the Armed Forces and after. His different roles included Scout Leader, Scout Master, and Scouting District Commissioner in Essa Township. Paul was creative in so many ways and enjoyed woodworking and graphic arts. For many years in the 70’s and 80’s his hand painted signs were prominent in the Angus area. While working as a graphic artist for the Department of National Defence, Paul’s work was used in many operational training manuals and posters. Paul was an avid model train enthusiast and was a member of the Allendale and Belleville Train Clubs. As a resident of Sandycove in Innisfil since 2011, Paul served on a number of Home Owner’s Association committees including his primary role as Membership Director. Paul was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marylou. Survived by his loving wife Josie, children Teresa, Pat Zalewski (Leo), Sandy (Jeannot), Rob, and Tim (Lauralee); grandchildren Rachel (Jay), Clarkson (Stephanie), Ross, Cathy-Jo, Emily, and Stacy; great-grandchildren Cadan, and Liam. Visitation and funeral will be at the Innisfil Funeral Home by invitation only to accommodate COVID restrictions. However, you can tune in to the Live Streaming of the service at 11 am.
