Reta Laura Elizabeth Ayres

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Reta Laura Elizabeth Ayres, who passed away peacefully on April 4, 2025, at the age of 81, in the care of the Royal Victoria Hospital. Preceded in death by mother and father, Melville and Lenore Cook and brother Ronald. Reta leaves behind her husband of 63 years, Vernon Ayres and their three children and nine grandchildren. Son Brian (Lisa); grandchildren Courtney, Cameron and Chad. Son Bradley; grandsons Nicholas and Alex. Daughter Deana Hansford (Andrew Hansford); grandchildren Jordan, Tyler, Connor and Brooke. Brother Ralph (Pauline) and Raymond (the late Phyllis).
Reta worked as a mail carrier for Canada Post for 34 years and was active with the Stroud Curling Club. Reta was also known for selling her farm fresh eggs right up until the day she was admitted to hospital.
As pre Reta’s request, there will be a private family burial. Details for a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Memorial donations in memory of Reta, may be made to support the Junior Stroud Curling Club program.
