Robert James White

October 23, 1938 — January 30, 2025

Our family is very saddened to announce that Robert (Bob) James White passed away Thursday, January 30th, 2025 after a short stay at Hospice Simcoe, in his 87th year. Bob (Papa) was the beloved husband of the late Joy White of Innisfil. Cherished father of Leslie White of Aurora, Jeff White (Barbara) of Barrie and Tara Vierling (Ed) of Aurora. Loving Papa of Chandler White (Matt), Branson White (Elisa), Samantha White (Clinton), Josh White, Jake White, Tessa Vierling and Evan Vierling, and Great Papa or GP to Harlowe, Keaton, Ellis and Aurora. Predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Mary White (Loveless), his siblings, Jean (Grant) Morley, John (Donna) White, Ruth Williams.

Bob was an electrician by trade and worked for Attenborough Electric until his retirement. He then worked with Jeff (Jeff White Group) for over 21 years, keeping everything in working order and being the MacGyver of all things. He was known to all of the employees simply as Papa, and you could find him most days in the back shop fixing anything he could find.

Born in Newmarket, Ontario on October 23rd, 1938, he loved telling stories of his farm days and his work ethic came from those days on the farm. Bob loved to work, and if he wasn’t at one of his children’s homes fixing something, he was helping a neighbour or a friend.

He loved watching his grandchildren in any of the sports they participated in, and you could find him in an arena somewhere in Ontario watching the boys play hockey or at the side of a field watching the girls play soccer or field hockey and was always interested in everything that they did.

Great Papa (G.P.) was lucky enough to see his four great grandchildren and he enjoyed visits with them during family holidays.

The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the nurses at R.V.H for their exceptional care and Dr. Jacky Lai who helped make the transfer from R.V.H to Hospice with so much kindness. We would also like to thank the wonderful nurses and staff at Hospice Simcoe. Their kindness, care and dedication to making his last week peaceful and pain free meant the world to us. Special thank you to Lori and Garrett for the personal concert in Papa’s room.

Family and friends are invited to the Innisfil Community Church on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. for visitation, followed by a service at 2:30 p.m. All are welcome to stay afterwards for a time of fellowship and light refreshments, where stories and memories of Bob can be shared.

His memory will live on in all of us, and although he will be deeply missed, he will never be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Simcoe would greatly be appreciated by the family.

“Quiet and steadfast, strong and kind,
A gentle heart, a thoughtful mind,
Though you’ve gone, your presence stays,
In our memories of golden days”
