M. Roberta Jean (Black) Spence
Passed away peacefully in her 101st year on December 31, 2021, in Barrie, at Bob Rumball Home for the Deaf. She was the last remaining child of the late Ellwood and Elizabeth Black, she was predeceased by her brother Rev. Wm E. Black and sisters Frances Besse, Betty Campbell, and Clara Black. Loving Aunt to nephews David Black (Barbara) Frank Besse (Leslie) Jim Besse (Ann) and Stephen Black and niece Laura Black (Gordon), as well as Great Nephews and Nieces. A long-time teacher, Roberta was particularly proud of her achievements helping children with Speech Therapy. Roberta had a great love for dogs, especially her beloved Wee Willie, a Brussels Griffon. She also had a keen interest in photographing birds. She was an avid reader and really enjoyed playing cards. We mourn Roberta’s passing, but smile for the joy she brought in our time together. The family would like to thank The Bob Rumball Home for the Deaf for their loving care the past eight years. If desired, memorial donations to The Bob Rumball Home for the Deaf at 1 Royal Parkside Drive, Barrie ON L4M 0C4, would be appreciated.
A private family Service will be held at a later date.
